Why This Pick?

This is arguably one of my favourite NHL matchups – and more often than not, it’s a competitive one. That said, the Sabres played the Canadiens in Montreal just last week and won 4-2. In fact, Buffalo won both of their meetings with the Canadiens in January by multiple goals, and have won their last 5 straight games by multiple goals. With the home advantage here, I’m not looking to step in front of Buffalo in their current form. Give me the home squad to win in regulation.

To boot, Utah has won its last 3 meetings with Brooklyn; both defenses are trash, but their offense is substantially better in my opinion. And tonight, they have the home advantage. I know we’re picking the best of the worst, but I’m throwing a sprinkle on the Jazz to cover as well as on the Over to hit.

LA Lakers v WAS Wizards: Let me preface this pick by saying, “I hate it too – but…” Shockingly, the Wizards have won their last two home games. However tonight, they play on the tail end of a back to back, and the Lakers absolutely stomped them in their last meeting (which also took place in Washington). If LeBron James and Luka Doncic can’t pull off a double-digit win over the Wizards, I’m writing off the Lakers for the rest of the season. One thing to note: Doncic and Reaves are Questionable here, so give the IR a look before game time. I highly suspect at least one of them will play (if not both), so give me the visitors to cover.
