Why These Picks?
ARI Diamondbacks v CHI White Sox: The Diamondbacks offense should be able to bag a number of runs off of White Sox starter Sean Burke (4.50 ERA), but I don’t expect Chicago to go away quietly here. Diamondbacks starter Zac Gallen (5.60 ERA) has allowed 15 ERs over his last 3 starts – if there was a spot for the White Sox to pull off an upset, I’d say this might be it (that’s a big might, but I said what I said…) In any case, take the Over to cash, friends.
The Athletics v DET Tigers: My brain sees Jack Flaherty’s (3.74 ERA) name on the starting list and immediately thinks “Over”, friends. Far and away one of Detroit’s weaker starters, Flaherty has allowed 15 runs over his last two outings. On the other side, Athletics starter Jacob Lopez (4.25 ERA) had a solid encounter against the Kansas City Royals his last time out, but typically, his Away ERA sits at a whopping 6.92. I expect the As to get a number of runs past Flaherty this evening, and the Tigers offense to have little issue with Lopez. Take the Over to cash.
TOR Blue Jays v CLE Guardians: Max Scherzer (6.00 ERA) is coming off a long stint on the injury list, betting fam – I imagine he’s going to be somewhat rusty. I know it’s big to make that assumption, but that tends to be the initial trajectory for pitchers coming off a long-ish break. To boot, 3 of the last 4 encounters between these two squads have cashed the Over – and while we know the Blue Jays offense has been firing on all cylinders, Cleveland doesn’t seem to have an issue putting runs on the board against Toronto either (despite their losing result yesterday). My money’s on this game to fly Over 8.0.
