Why These Picks?

Texas Tech v Utah: Comically, today’s matchup will be the toughest defense either squad has faced so far this season (check the schedule – it’s been easy street for both teams…) Today will also be the first “away” game of the season for the Red Raiders. With each party facing a challenge they haven’t yet had to deal with, I think this total is just too high (and likely inflated due to the first 3 games each team played…).  Because I think both teams will struggle a bit for the first time here, I’m rolling with the Under.

Wofford v Virginia Tech: Virginia Tech has been a hot mess over the last couple of weeks (0-3), and today, the Hokies finally find themselves in a spot where a victory should be all but automatic. I’ll just call a spade a spade: the Terriers are abysmal! Virginia Tech should have no issue covering the lofty spread and cashing the Over this afternoon.

UAB v Tennessee: It sounds crazy, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Tennessee found a way to cash this total themselves (lol). The Volunteers put a staggering 72 points on the board back on Sept 6, so it certainly wouldn’t be the first time. In short: one of the best offenses in CFB should face little resistance today, and if UAB should contribute to the total, I’ll welcome it. Take the Over to cash.
