Why These Picks?
TB Rays v BAL Orioles: While I don’t love a -130 return, the Rays have been a money printer as of late having won 5 of their last 6 games. And, if I’m being honest, the Orioles are simply trending in a totally opposite direction having lost 4 of their last 5. Tomoyuki Sugano (3.55 ERA) is one of Baltimore’s better arms, but he’s still allowed 9 runs over his last 3 outings. Meanwhile, Ryan Pepiot (3.04 ERA) has been pretty solid on the road. I’ll take Tampa Bay to bag another win.
MIN Twins v DET Tigers: Minnesota has cashed the Over in 4 of their last 5 outings, and the Tigers have cashed it in 10 of their last 12, friends. With starter David Festa (6.39 ERA) on the mound today, I fully expect the Tigers to get more than a few on the board. Festa has allowed a whopping 20 ERs over his last 4 starts, and 4 of his last 5 trips to the mound have resulted in totals of at least 9. Today won’t be any exception – I’m on the Over to hit.
PHI Phillies v ATL Braves: Both of today’s starting pitchers should allow each offense to pop off a bit. Braves pitcher Bryce Elder has allowed 9 runs in just his last 2 starts, while Mick Abel has allowed a whopping 7 HRs (no joke…) in just his last 3 outings. Hilariously, that HR stat actually made me do a double take. My money’s on the Over to cash here.
