Why This Pick?
â
Alabama v Florida State: Alabama has a comical tendency to exceed expectations in its opening week, friends. At 9-1 over its last 10 openers (seriously, look it up â itâs insaneâŚ), itâs tough to think they wonât cover the spread regardless of who the opponent is. In this case however, the math also maths â Florida State is in rebuild mode, and I just donât trust that they can keep the final score within 2 TDs against one of the leagueâs best. As for the total, I know there's rain in the forecast â but I don't think this will make a difference when it comes to Alabama's ability to run up a score. Give me the Crimson Tide to cover and the Over to hit.
â
TORÂ Blue Jays v MILÂ Brewers: Yesterday, both of these squads had two of their best pitchers on the mound and the game still made it to 9 runs. The reality is that once both teams put their bullpens in, each highly capable offense is going to turn up (or hell, one will turn up enough for both!) For this reason, my money's on the Over to hit.
â
DETÂ Tigers v KCÂ Royals:Â Tigers starter Jack Flaherty's (4.87 ERA) last 5 straight outings have cashed the Over with ease, betting fam. Flaherty has allowed 18 runs in his last 4 starts, while Kansas City starter Stephen Kolek (4.18Â ERA)Â is dragging around a 9.45 ERAÂ at home. My money's on a high-scoring affair today.
