Why These Picks?
DET Tigers v CLE Guardians: Post-season or not, Jack Flaherty’s (4.64 ERA) name on the schedule will always equate to a higher-scoring affair in my brain, friends. And in recent past, he hasn’t faired well at all against the Cleveland Guardians (or against anyone, really!) 4 of Flaherty’s last 5 starts have resulted in a loss for Detroit, so I’m very curious to see how he fares today. On the other side, Cleveland will send Slade Cecconi (4.30 ERA) to the mound. With 4 earned runs on Cecconi’s last 5 allowed hits, I can’t say I’m excited to back either squad this afternoon. I will however take the Over to cash with confidence.
SF 49ers v LA Rams: The 49ers haven’t lost any game so far this year by more than 8. In addition, all of the last 5 meetings between these teams have ended within a single TD (or less). LA looks phenomenal so far this year, but -8.5 is just too tall an order for this divisional matchup in my opinion. I’ll put my money on the Niners to keep it [somewhat] close.
