Why These Picks?
ā
EDMĀ Oilers v NYĀ Islanders:Ā I am whole-heartedly on the Oilers to win this meeting without the need for OT, friends. The NY Islanders have lost all 3 of their outings so far this season, and to be frank, their offense doesnāt look like anything I want to put money behind having failed to deliver against far worse teams. To boot, New York will be starting their backup Goalie this evening (David Rittich). Edmontonās offense is arguably the stronger contender; the Oilers have won 2 of their last 3 games. Iām on the visitors to win this matchup in regulation.
ā
VAN Canucks v DAL Stars: With the Dallas Stars quite literally putting 5 goals per game on the board so far this season, I think a high-scoring affair is inevitable. If the home squad continues to uphold their set standard, this leaves very little work for the Canucks to do. In addition, Dallas will be starting their backup goaltender (Casey DeSmith). Ā Iām on the Over to hit.
ā
COL Avalanche v CLB Blue Jackets: The Avalanche look elite early this season. Having won 3 of the 4 games theyāve played so far, I canāt say I consider the Blue Jackets to be a daunting opponent for a stacked Avs offense. Honestly, a return of -105 seems like a steal for Colorado to bag a regulation win, especially since none of their victories so far have required OT. Iāll happily take the visitors to find success in 60 minutes.
