Why These Picks?

PHX Suns v HOU Rockets: I know the Suns are on a roll at the moment, but I think that roll ends in Houston. Phoenix has been covering the spread left, right, and centre – but the Rockets have won 4 of their last 5 and are a whole other breed at home. And yes, I know Phoenix just pulled off a nice win over the OKC Thunder, but the Suns also had the benefit of playing this encounter on their own court. To boot, Phoenix’s last trip to Houston saw them lose by 19 points. My money’s on the Rockets to win and cover here, friends.

CHA Hornets v OKC Thunder: The Thunder at home are tough to contend with for even the best teams in the league – and while Charlotte has been putting solid points on the board over their last 4 games, I think OKC’s defense will leave them in the dust fairly early on. I don’t love double-digit spreads, but the Thunder should cover here. I’ll also toss a sprinkle on the home squad to bag at least 125 points.
