Why These Picks?

HOU Texans v LA Chargers: This matchup will fall just North of 39.5 in my opinion. The Chargers offense has been pretty efficient this last few weeks, while the Texans have won their last 7 straight games and put at least 20 points on the board in their last 5 outings. Houston’s incredibly capable defense is undoubtedly the reason for this low projected total (and let’s call a spade a spade: CJ Stroud didn’t look great last week…), but the Chargers have only put less than 20 points on the board at home once all season. Take the Over, friends.

CLE Cavaliers v HOU Rockets: The Cavaliers have lost their last 4 straight meetings with the Rockets, I don’t doubt that the home squad will put another victory in the bag here. Houston plays their best ball at home, and the Cavaliers have had an abysmal time covering the spread over the last couple months. I’ll take Houston to cover a very reasonable -3.5. In addition, 3 of their last 4 meetings between these two squads haven’t come anywhere close to 234 points – and the Rockets have held their opponents to less than 108 points in 3 of their last 4 outings (the outlier being a game that required OT…) I’ll roll with the Under here.

MIL Bucks v CHI Bulls: The Bulls are at home tonight facing the Bucks who are a) playing on the tail end of a back-to-back, and b) coming off a rough loss to the Memphis Grizzlies. Chicago has won their last 5 straight, while Milwaukee has dropped 4 of their last 5. At the time of writing, the IL has yet to be updated, but there is a chance Giannis Antetokounmpo will make his return this evening – with or without him on the court, I still think Chicago makes light work of this encounter. The home team should have no issue putting this win in the bag – my money’s on the Bulls to cover.

DET Red Wings v CAR Hurricanes: The Hurricanes have cashed the Over in their last 3 straight games, and to be frank, I think the Red Wings will give them a run for their money here. Detroit has cashed the Over in 2 of their last 3 outings against some formidable defenses – at the very least, I think this game sees 7 goals. I'm on the Over to cash.
