Why These Picks?

NY Islanders v DET Red Wings: This game should have a big total, friends. The Islanders smoked the Red Wings just last month 7-2, and that was with Cam Tabot (2.71 GAA) goaltending. In addition, John Gibson’s (3.31 GAA) last 4 straight starts have seen final totals of at least 7 goals. Despite being the underdog, NY will get to him early in my opinion. That said, both offenses have been efficient recently, I expect them both to contribute fairly early on – take the Over to cash.

BUF Bills v HOU Texans: The spread on this game felt "trappy" as all hell, so I decided to steer clear of it all together. That said, that trap equates to a high-scoring game for me, because neither of these teams’ defenses has been efficient lately. I’ll be shocked if there isn’t a barrage of scoring in this encounter, especially given that Houston is far better offensively on their own field (…having put at least 26 points on the board in 3 of their last 4 home games). I’m on the Over to cash.

PHI 76ers v MIL Bucks: This match up has the potential to be the lowest scoring affair of the day. With Giannis Antetokounmpo out, and the 76ers putting 112 points or less on the board in their last 5 straight games, I’ll be surprised if this meeting cracks 220. I’m on the Under here.

LA Kings v SJ Sharks: The last 4 straight meetings between these two squads have cashed the Over, friends. While both of tonight’s goaltenders are capable, I’m convinced the Sharks get some strange offense super powers from their own ice. San Jose is 5-1 in their last 6 home games! To boot, the Kings are at the end of a road trip, Drew Doughty is out, and no Darcy Kuemper in net… There are just too many variables that point to a higher-scoring affair (and a potential Sharks upset?!) The biggest in my opinion being Forsberg’s tendency to be wildly inconsistent. That said, 4 of his 6 starts have seen at least 6 goals. I’m on the Over, friends.
