Why These Picks?

DET Pistons v MIA Heat: Watching the Pistons blow a 20+ point lead over the Nets to take a loss by 2 points at home has me questioning everything. Detroit will be on a back-to-back; Miami has a clear advantage and their offense has been formidable over the last couple of weeks. The Heat have won 7 of their last 9 games, and have won their last 4 straight by at least 8 points. After watching Detroit fall to Brooklyn, backing them in this match up makes little sense. I’m on the home squad to cover.

DAL Mavericks v TOR Raptors: This is a bold take, I know. While the Raptors have dropped 4 of their last 5, I’d argue that they had a tough week having to the Spurs, Timberwolves, and the Knicks. Meanwhile, Dallas has dropped 16 of their last 18 games, and 4 of their last 5 losses were by double-digits. I think this is a nice bounce back spot for Toronto, so I’m on the Raptors to cover at home.

BOS Bruins v PIT Penguins: This might be an unpopular opinion, but I love the Under here. The last 5 straight encounters between these two teams haven’t made it over 5 goals. That said, I see how the Over is attractive with Korpisalo in net this afternoon (if you sat this one out I wouldn’t blame you, it’s bound to be a sweat…) – but recent history has me tossing a sprinkle on the Under to cash.

CHI Blackhawks v DAL Stars: The last 4 straight meetings between these two teams have seen at least 6 goals, and 3 of those 4 saw 7. In addition, Dallas has cashed the Over in each of their last 3 outings – worst case scenario, this game might see a Push. That said, I think Chicago puts enough on the board here to push the total beyond 6. Take the Over to hit.
