Why These Picks?
WAS Wizards v LA Lakers: As you all know, I don’t love double-digit spreads, but the Lakers have won their last 3 straight encounters with Washington by at least 23 points. With the home advantage and on two days of rest, I expect them to win by a very healthy margin. And, if I’m being real honest, I just can’t bring myself to toss money on the Wizards who are both wrapping up a long road trip and on a back-to-back. Even with Doncic serving his suspension, I’m on the Lakers to continue their playoff push and cover.
VAN Canucks v VGS Golden Knights: The Canucks’ decline continues to (somehow?!) get worse. Vancouver has lost their last two games by at least 4 goals, and with Vegas at home and eager to bag a win, I don’t doubt the Canucks continue on the struggle bus here. I’ll go after the plus money and take the Golden Knights to win by at least 3.
DET Tigers v ARI Diamondbacks: These picks come down to pitcher, friends. Justin Verlander is the better arm, and the Tigers are fresh off a series win over the San Diego Padres (their offense looks great). Diamondbacks starter Michael Soroka is coming off the 2025 season with an ERA of 4.52…I can see Detroit taking an early lead with him on the mound. I’m on the Over to cash and I’ll take the underdog Tigers to win.
