Why These Picks?
PIT Pirates v CHI Cubs: Paul Skenes hasn’t allowed more than a single run in his last 5 straight outings – the man is obscenely good. In addition, neither of his last 2 starts saw totals of more than 7 runs. Despite Cade Horton (4.11 ERA) being far less capable, I don’t love the Pirates offense either. This game should be a low-scoring affair – I’m on the Under to hit.
MIN Twins v HOU Astros: I’m on the underdog today, fam. The Twins have been incredibly solid as a visiting team having won 4 of their last 5 road games. To boot, Minnesota comes into this encounter with a pretty nice pitching advantage over the Astros. Starter Colton Gordon (5.11 ERA) has given up 10 runs in his last 3 home outings, and I trust Chris Paddack (3.53 ERA) to keep Houston’s offense in check.
OKC Thunder v IND Pacers: There isn’t a single team in the NBA who bounces back from a loss better than the Thunder, friends. Given what’s at stake, I won’t be surprised if Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has a game of record-breaking magnitude that helps foster a high-scoring total. Oklahoma City has only lost two games in a row twice all season – I say they bag a healthy victory here. My money’s on the Thunder to cover and on the Over to cash.
