Why These Picks?

PIT Pirates v MIL Brewers: The Brewers should clean up here, friends. With the home advantage, the pitching advantage, and a better offense, I simply can’t imagine Milwaukee doesn’t take care of business. 4 of Pirates starter Andrew Heaney’s (4.77 ERA) last 5 outings have resulted in a loss, while the Brewers have won 9 of their last 10 games. With Jose Quintana (3.57 ERA) getting the start, I’m on Milwaukee to cover the RL.

DET Tigers v CHI White Sox: I feel much better about the Detroit Tigers ever since Kerry Carpenter’s return, betting family. Detroit’s last 8 straight wins have all seen them score at least 5 runs, and yes, I do think they bag a victory over the White Sox…especially since it appears as though Chicago will run a bullpen game this evening. To be fair, I don’t love Chris Paddack (4.91 ERA) – and while the White Sox offense is always a wild card, I do think they get more than a few on the board here. Take the Over to cash today, friends.

BOS Red Sox v HOU Astros: Astros starter Colton Gordon’s last outing was, as it happens, against the Boston Red Sox. The Astros lost 7-3 in that meeting at Fenway Park – but more importantly, Houston has lost 4 of Gordon’s last 5 starts by at least 2 runs. On the other side, Boston will start their best – Garrett Crochet. Crochet’s last 5 straight outings have resulted in a Red Sox win; and while the Astros offense seems to be heating up, I think the gap in pitching talent is just too wide here. I’m on Boston to win by 2.
